Democracy

Problem: Incumbents are not meeting the moment with the appropriate and necessary fight, and our Democracy is failing.

Action: I will introduce the following legislation and changes to strengthen our Democracy for the next 250 years:

1. The Turn Norms Into Laws Act: I will introduce legislation that will make what used to be norms into laws that Presidents must follow. This will include forcing presidents to divest business holdings, a reduction in unlimited pardon power, banning military use for political rallies, defining what is and isn't an emergency declaration, and codifying tariffs as the role of Congress.

2. Ban federal mask-and-raids: Ban ICE-style paramilitary raids on cities, schools, and homes. ICE agents cannot wear masks, must show ID, be in uniform, must have probable cause rather than racial profiling, and follow due process - for everyone.

3. Accountability for every crime: Keep every email, text, and memo. Investigate January 6th and MAGA crimes fully — anyone who broke the law gets prosecuted. No exceptions, no pardons, no political cover-ups.

4. Undo government damage: Reverse Trump’s firings, purge of experts, and politicization of agencies. Restore career officials, scientists, inspectors, and ensure merit-based appointments. Set up a commission to make recommendations to strengthen institutions for the future.

5. Introduce next generation Fairness Doctrine legislation that will tackle the unbalanced nature of digital lives and cable TV and undo the poisonous stranglehold that Fox News and others have over the country, ensuring all viewpoints get equal exposure.
