Hello.
My name’s Todd. I’m a small business owner. I’m a gay American. I’m a new generation Democrat. And I’m running for Congress in District 37 in the heart of Los Angeles.
I remember hope. As a child, I looked forward to a future far better than the present. But today when I look around, I see nothing but cynicism and apathy. I want to change this.
I’ve never run for political office before, but we have a safe district problem here in CA-37. The Democrat Party, led by Karen Bass, call our district safe because they believe nobody should challenge the establishment candidate they have already selected for us. So they don’t actually fight for anything.
But the results speak for themselves. We just lost the House, the Senate, and the White House. Again. LA just burned. Our streets are a mess. Current Democrat leaders are not meeting the moment. So who are they to say who represents us?
It should be the voters who decide.
I was the shy gay kid (that’s me in the middle!) who was told I couldn’t do a lot of things, and that’s all you need to say to me to make me do it.
And the Democratic Party told me that I couldn’t challenge an incumbent in a safe district. But my favorite challenge is a difficult one, so game on.
Here’s what I’ll fight for: more power for those who have less.
Small business owners vs. corporations. Individuals vs. the government. Disenfranchised communities. And I’ll help everyone who needs help, not just a chosen few. And most importantly, I will make the government do more with less instead of perpetual tax increases and spending.
Yes, I’m a Democrat who is advocating for lower taxes and more efficient government.
And I’m proposing a New Bill of Rights for the 21st Century.
It’s time to meet the moment with competence, leadership, and a fighting spirit. It’s time to stop being polite. It’s time to break the rules to get things done. I’m sick of Democrats losing. It’s time for our Representative to earn your vote. Voters deserve better. This is why I’m running.
