They have lost the White House, the House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court for a generation and we have to look in the mirror to ask ourselves why.We cannot solve 2026 problems with a 1990s playbook. We’ve been here before: the internet changed everything. Then social media changed everything. And now artificial intelligence is changing everything again.&nbsp;Too often, the establishment politicians are funded by the tech oligarchs and do not serve the people. We don’t win by banning technologies, we win by shaping them to our purposes - to serve the people. If AI increases productivity, workers should share the gains — not just executives and shareholders. Here’s how I will fight on behalf of the voters:Workers first. If a company uses AI to cut labor costs, they must reinvest part of those savings into higher wages, shorter workweeks, or retraining.AI training, not pink slips. If companies replace workers with AI, it must either retrain those workers for new roles or pay directly into a workers transition fund to support bridge wages and job placement.&nbsp;Public AI for public good. We will legislate that the government will embrace AI to lower healthcare costs, speed up benefits, and reduce paperwork — for the American people, not corporations.&nbsp;No single billionaire gets to control the future of AI. We will mandate market share limitations to enable competition and cooperation for who helps Americans the most - not for who becomes the world’s first trillionaire.Republicans want no rules or protections. Democrats are ineffective and frozen. I want a roadmap that lets us move fast without leaving people behind. We won’t fear the futur, we fight to make sure it works for everyone.

AI Serving Us

It’s time to have more LGBTQ+ voices in Congress&nbsp; — not just to be seen, but to get things done, so we don’t have to wonder what rights we lose every time we cross a state line. When in Congress, I will introduce Proud To Be LGBTQ+ legislation that will:Lock LGBTQ+ rights into federal law — including housing, healthcare, and public accommodations nationwide. Our rights that Congress has failed to make law shouldn’t depend on our zip code or loopholes that let discrimination hide behind “religious freedom”.Permanently fund LGBTQ+ youth and mental-health services — including school-based counseling and LGBTQ crisis support — instead of letting lifesaving programs quietly expire, because protecting LGBTQ+ youth is how we protect the future of this country.Protect the right of Trans adults to access medically necessary care by keeping politicians and bureaucrats out of the exam room. Medical decisions should be made by patients and their doctors — not by the government.

Axios: The Need for New Democratic Leadership

The question is no longer whether we support immigration, the question is whether we will fight for our neighbors while federal agents kill people on the street. I will fight to:Shut down ICE on Day One. Vote to immediately cut all funding for ICE to end this reign of terror.Reinstate lawful rights of detainees. Fast-track an evaluation of the safety and immigration status of all people in the system, including reuniting of families.Use the power of my office to hold people accountable. I will advocate for calling ICE leaders and agents before committees under oath to force transparency and accountability. If you broke the law - as an agent, leader or collaborator - you will be held accountable.Rebuild a new immigration system that codifies process into binding enforcement laws so we never leave it up to the whims of the White House again. These will include a focus on due process, stopping racial profiling, and making mass raids illegal.How we’ll pay for this: re-allocate ICE funding, plus civil penalties and settlements collected from private detention contractors who violated rights.

Stopping ICE Abuses

It's time to stop treating LA's unhoused challenges like a permanent feature of our great city and time to start implementing solutions that actually work. My Bed for Every Head legislation will:Turn vacant and underutilized federal buildings into housing - I will work with city leadership, Democrat leaders and anyone else who is focused on solutions to turn vacant federal building into supportive housing rather than sitting idle.Redesign our shelters to meet the moment - we need to rethink how we design our shelters. A lot of unhoused people don't have access to available beds due to having pets, or not being able to keep all their possessions. This will change with new standards of sheltering with dignity.Legislate bathroom breaks for all - a major challenge in our cities is our unhoused&nbsp;population often don't have access to a bathroom. I will fight for federal transit funds (In early 2024, the LA region secured nearly $900 million in federal funding for transportation and transit upgrades) to include funding for every open train&nbsp;station to have at least one staffed and clean restroom.Reunite families - for unhoused who are looking to find their way home to welcoming family or friends, we will partner with individuals to confirm a safe destination and cover the cost of a ticket home. This will be paid for by re-allocating existing federal funding.Expand mental health, addiction and medical care alongside housing - tie federal housing dollars to expanded clinics and treatment beds so people don’t just get a bed, they get the help they need.Real spending, real outcomes - I will fight to get more of the billions allocated to our unhoused challenges as an accountable program that actually reduces our unhoused population. Additionally, I will end vacant property tax breaks that unlock&nbsp;new funding for real solutions without a tax increase.

We need real, measurable solutions at the federal level to help our unhoused neighbors and create safe streets for everyone.

Helping the Homeless

The freedom to make decisions about your own body is fundamental. No court decision should take that away. When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, it stripped millions of Americans of a right they had relied on for nearly fifty years. Congress must act. In Congress, I will work to: Codify the Right to Abortion Nationwide. Pass federal legislation that guarantees access to abortion care in every state, so your healthcare doesn’t depend on your ZIP code.Protect Contraception and Family Planning. Defend access to birth control, IVF, and reproductive healthcare services so individuals and families can make decisions on their own terms. Safeguard Medical Privacy. Ensure that personal health data and medical decisions remain private and protected from political interference.Reproductive freedom is about autonomy, dignity, and equal opportunity. It should not be subject to political swings or state-by-state rollbacks.<h4></h4>

Social Security is money Americans earned through a lifetime of work. In Congress, I will protect it, strengthen it, and make sure retirees receive every dollar they’re owed. I will:Let Seniors Keep More of What They EarnEnd federal taxation on Social Security benefits so seniors keep an additional $50–70 billion in their pockets every year. Ensure long-term solvency by lifting the payroll tax cap to $250,000, generating approximately $100 billion annually.Guarantee Earned BenefitsProtect Social Security from cuts, delays, or privatization schemes and ensure every American receives the benefits they’ve earned.Protect Retirement AgeBlock any proposals to raise the retirement age; Americans deserve rest after decades of work.Safeguard the Trust FundStrengthen oversight to protect Social Security from fraud, waste, and political interference.

Campaign Launch Celebration!

Not everyone who wants a job can find one. This must change, because more job opportunities leads to stability and careers. My Jobs for Everyone legislation will include:No federal tax on new small businesses for the first two years - new small businesses and self-employed startups pay zero federal income tax in their first 24 months — letting entrepreneurs invest in hiring, equipment, and growth.Cut payroll taxes for first-time hires for new small businesses - first-time hires at small businesses have their federal payroll taxes cut for two years, directly reducing the cost of adding employees.Made in CA37 - any company that claims new federal tax breaks must also certify that jobs created are in their district. This will be done through a pilot district program. Funding for administration and enforcement comes from a small portion of the federal incentive budget already allocated for job creation programs, meaning this program is self-sustaining without raising taxes.Accelerate local education and training - support community colleges and trade schools to expand programs in much-needed healthcare, green energy, nursing, and other skilled trades relevant to our district by giving families federal tax credits for tuition and certification costs -&nbsp;funded by redirecting unused federal workforce training dollars that Congress has already allocated.

Not everyone who wants a job can find one. This is going to change.

Jobs For Everyone

California has been a leader in climate action for decades, and we will accelerate that fight with Stay Cool Legislation that will include the following:Establish Clean Air Neighborhood Zones&nbsp;- allocate federal funding to eliminate toxic hot spots that are shortening lifespans in our district. CA-37’s unique challenges include freeway pollution corridors, industrial hotspots, warehouses and trucking yards, and some of the highest asthma rates in LA County:<ul><li>Monitor air quality block-by-block, not use citywide averages.</li><li>Force EPA crackdowns on polluting trucks, refineries, and warehouses in LA.</li><li>Provide free home air filtration units for families near pollution zones.</li></ul>Solar for Renters - establish a federal program to install rooftop solar on multifamily rental buildings — so renters get lower bills, not just homeowners:<ul><li>Create a federal subsidy for solar installations on apartment roofs.</li><li>Require landlords to pass savings to tenants.</li><li>Prioritize buildings in West Adams, Mid-City, Hyde Park, and Jefferson Park, among others.</li></ul>Urban Heat Reversal - it’s time to cool down some of the hottest streets in America’s hottest cit. Parts of CA-37 are 20–25 degrees hotter than wealthier westside neighborhoods because of a lack of trees, more heat-absorbing pavement, and bus stops with no shade. We will:<ul><li>Fund 10,000 trees in LA heat islands in CA37.</li><li>Require shaded bus stops and cooling corridors.</li><li>Create federal grants for heat-resilient housing retrofits.</li><li>We would pay for this by redirecting fossil fuel subsidies, and clean energy grants and tax incentives.</li></ul>

California is a leader in climate action, and CA37 will accelerate that fight.

Climate Leadership

For too long, the city of Los Angeles has faced zero consequences for not building enough homes. I will introduce legislation that will force LA to build more, build faster - or lose federal funding. The era of red tape is over. This is how we’ll do it:Eviction moratorium. ICE is attacking our neighbors and people are afraid to leave the house to go to work or school. I will fight for an immediate eviction moratorium until ICE leaves Los Angeles.&nbsp;57,000 new homes a year + 90 day approval process — or federal funding gets turned off. Los Angeles is mandated by the state to build 57,000 units of housing each year, but the city is falling far behind. All federal funding will be tied to this annual goal being met of new homes coming onto the market, and a standard approval process timeline. Hit these goals — or the city loses federal funding.Zero empty homes.&nbsp;If units are vacant for more than 6 months, large corporate owners will pay a federal vacancy fee equal to 1% of the property value per year. After 12 months the fee doubles. Rent. It. Out. Empty homes in a housing crisis are unacceptable.Legalize tiny homes. We’ve seen this work around the world, and now’s the time to bring this to LA. Four walls, a roof, your own plot of land for an affordable price. Cities will receive federal funding based on permitted tiny homes that have come online.Bond requirements for blocking housing. Anyone who appeals housing approvals must post a bond to do so. Delays have consequences.&nbsp;Get credit for good credit. If you pay rent on time for five years, the federal government guarantees you a first mortgage.Rent-capped federal lease insurance. The federal government insures long-term residential leases the way it insures bank deposits. This gives stability to landlords and provides rent caps to tenants.&nbsp;Office vacancy takeover clock. Empty commercial buildings over three years trigger mandatory residential conversion or federal takeover.&nbsp;Rent stabilization through favorable landlord refinancing. A landlord with a multiunit building can apply for a federal refinance at lower rates if they agree to cap rent increases to inflation for a minimum of 10 years and keep units actively rented at 95% occupancy rate.

The era of red tape is over. We're going to build more, and faster.

A Lot More Housing

Healthcare in America is broken and Congress has been ineffective at fixing it. Premiums are too high, coverage is too low, insurance gets involved in too many decisions. When I’m elected, I will introduce Stop Worrying About Your Healthcare legislation, with real solutions that can be implemented today:Lower Medicare eligibility to 50. This would immediately bring relief to millions, while also reducing pressure on the ACA.Cap premium hikes for three years, and then match hike increases to inflation so families don’t have to choose between rent and health coverage.Demand $50 urgent care visit for everyone. So you have access to a doctor when you need it.Extend Medicare-negotiated prescription costs to the ACA. If Medicare folks can get a better price, so should you.&nbsp;End surprise bills. Know costs before you go - just like any other transaction a consumer enters into.A real Plan for Medicare For All - no more vague promises or slogans, but a real plan to make Medicare for All a reality in the next five years: the road to success, the votes and funding it will take, how it will work, and key milestones.

The cost of everything is too high. And I mean everything. My Affordability Now legislation will do the following:Renters Tax Deduction Just Like Homeowners GetWhat it does: Gives renters a federal tax break similar to the mortgage interest deduction. Homeowners get a tax break just for owning a home. Renters get nothing - even when they are paying more per month. If you pay rent, you should get the same tax benefit as someone paying a mortgage. It’s the roof over your head tax deduction.&nbsp;How it’s paid for: Close real estate loopholes that benefit large investors and luxury property owners and impose a vacancy tax on corporate owners who keep units vacant, while limiting the mortgage interest deduction on second homes.End the Trump TariffsWhat it does: Lowers the cost of groceries and everyday goods immediately.How it’s paid for: Tariffs are taxes on consumers — ending them lowers prices without costing taxpayers a dime.Return the Tariffs to the American PeopleWhat it does: Refunds the American people for the tariffs passed on to them.How it’s paid for: The government must return the tariff money it has taken - we have a number of tools, including tax credits, to do it.Cap Credit Card Interest at 5% on Groceries and GasWhat it does: Stops banks from charging 25–30% interest on food and fuel.How it’s paid for: Enforced under existing banking law — banks still profit, they just can’t gouge people on necessities.Medicare for Childcare — $50 a Day Max&nbsp;Caps childcare costs at $50/day while fully paying providers.Consolidates existing childcare funding and redirects subsidies straight to providers instead of middlemen.

The cost of everything is too high. We’re going to fix it. Now.

Affordability Now

Los Angeles should have the cleanest streets in the world, but instead City Hall lets garbage pile up in our district while they argue over whose job it is to clean it up. My We Love LA legislation will:Create Jobs With Rapid-Response Clean Teams - to hire and train local workers for more rapid-response trash removal in our cities. We’ll pay for this through existing Department of Labor workforce grants and AmeriCorps infrastructure programs as well as partnering with the LA Conservation Corps.Kick-off Federal “Adopt-a-Block” Grants for Local Action - create federal community cleanup grants that expand to cover trash on our streets that go directly to neighborhood councils, churches, schools, and nonprofits. Federal HUD and EPA community funds will also be redirected toward micro-grants and volunteer supplies like garbage bags, rakes, and more.Enforce federal Crackdown on Illegal Dumping and Corporate Neglect - federal enforcement against illegal dumpers, waste haulers, and slumlords using environmental and consumer protection laws. Fines from these cases go directly into the federal grant pool for trash pickup.

If City Hall can’t clean up the streets of Los Angeles, Congress will.

Clean Streets

Problem: Incumbents are not meeting the moment with the appropriate and necessary fight, and our Democracy is failing. Action: I will introduce the following legislation and changes to strengthen our Democracy for the next 250 years:The Turn Norms Into Laws Act:&nbsp;I will introduce legislation that will make what used to be norms into laws that Presidents must follow. This will include forcing presidents to divest business holdings, a reduction in unlimited pardon power, banning military use for political rallies, defining what is and isn't an emergency declaration, and codifying tariffs as the role of Congress.Ban federal mask-and-raids:&nbsp;Ban ICE-style paramilitary raids on cities, schools, and homes. ICE agents cannot wear masks, must show ID, be in uniform, must have probable cause rather than racial profiling, and follow due process - for everyone.Accountability for every crime:&nbsp;Keep every email, text, and memo. Investigate January 6th and MAGA crimes fully — anyone who broke the law gets prosecuted. No exceptions, no pardons, no political cover-ups.Undo government damage:&nbsp;Reverse Trump’s firings, purge of experts, and politicization of agencies. Restore career officials, scientists, inspectors, and ensure merit-based appointments. Set up a commission to make recommendations to strengthen institutions for the future.Introduce next generation Fairness Doctrine&nbsp;legislation that will&nbsp;tackle the unbalanced nature of digital lives and cable TV and undo the&nbsp;poisonous stranglehold that Fox&nbsp;News and others have over the&nbsp;country, ensuring all viewpoints get equal exposure.
